Below, we have outlined in more detail what customers in Farnham, Fleet and the surrounding areas can expect from our services.
As any homeowner in Fleet, Farnham or the neighbouring areas can confirm, it takes considerable time and effort to maintain a hedge. Even with the best of intentions, property owners can soon fall behind on the upkeep of their hedge, leaving them with a ragged, unkempt appearance. Owing to their often prominent placement at the front or rear of premises, an untidy hedge can have a negative impact on first impressions.
Here at Webb & Cook Arboricultural Specialists, we provide a hedge cutting service designed to suit the needs of any client. From a one-off service on an informal hedge to ongoing contracted maintenance on a formal hedge, we cater to every request and every species.
In accordance with the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 and the Hedgerows Regulations 1997, we perform the vast majority of our hedge cutting work between March and August. As it remains an offence to wilfully damage or disturb a wild bird’s nest, operating during this period avoids the annual bird breeding season. What’s more, it also helps us preserve hedges that still act as boundary markers and fences in Fleet, Farnham and the wider Hampshire area.
Whether as part of a landscaping project or as a mandatory part of a planning application in a conservation area, planting trees plays a vital role in creating an appealing aesthetic as well as a thriving ecosystem.
When trees suffer damage or destruction, be it at the hands of a storm or a property development, it creates an imbalance in the immediate environment. A meticulously planned tree planting program restores this balance, ensuring that the natural environment doesn’t suffer for too long.
From a single tree to an entire woodland area, as a tree specialist we have the expertise to create planting or replanting schemes of any size. What’s more, we provide valuable insight into the growing patterns and needs for different species, ensuring that new trees get planted in the right place and conditions first time.
TREE SURVEYS & REPORTS
As reputable tree surgeons, we provide tree surveys and reports for a variety of reasons, including:
While these reasons differ from each other, they also share a common uniting factor: an intent to protect the public, properties and businesses. While trees remain an integral part of a community, they can also grow into anything from a nuisance to a genuine safety hazard.
As a tree specialist, we conduct tree surveys and produce reports that underline the severity of any risk. Any tree surgery services that we recommend in order to increase safety need to be carried out under the ‘duty of care’ obligations.
Before any kind of tree surgery can be undertaken on trees with a TPO (tree preservation order) or those within a conservation area, the tree surgeons of choice need to submit an application to the relevant local planning authority. Naturally, as a customer-focused tree specialist, we take care of every aspect of this process on behalf of our customers.
TPOs and conservation areas play a vital role in protecting vulnerable or rare tree species. Any person or business who breaches them receives a hefty fine, even for the most minor of work. Webb & Cook Arboricultural Specialists have a constructive, respectful relationship with local authorities in Fleet, Farnham and throughout the region, so let us provide the ideal starting point for your tree-related project.
LOG & TIMBER GOODS
As part of our drive toward sustainable products and a carbon neutral footprint, we recycle as much waste material from our tree surgery service as possible. As such, we provide seasoned logs that have been hand split and naturally aired for a perfect, low moisture content. We have a large stock of mixed hardwood and softwood logs (70% to 30%) ready for immediate delivery to homes and businesses in Hampshire, Berkshire and Surrey. Delivery is free within a 10-mile radius of our base in Farnham.
We deliver in the following trailer loads:
In addition, we also provide Waney-edged boards for use as table tops and bespoke furniture.
Our stock consists solely of English Oak and we mill the boards ourselves. Each board has a length of 2 metres, a width between 55cm and 71cm and a thickness of 5cm.
As with our firewood, Waney-edged boards have been stacked in a watertight barn for optimal seasoning.
